2000 - Cub Koda of Brownsville Station died July 1, 2001. Koda, a native of Manchester, Michigan, founded seminal 1970s rock band and wrote the hit song, "Smokin' in the Boys' Room. 
2005 - Ronzoni Luther Vandross, Jr. Dies at John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Edison, New Jersey. Previously, Vandross suffered a massive stroke in his home in Manhattan On April 16, 2003.
